Do we use cookies?
Almost none, and never for tracking or advertising. Cookies are small files a site can store in your browser. RotorLog is built to avoid them: our marketing website sets no first-party cookies, and the only third party that can set a cookie on our site is Google reCAPTCHA, and only on our contact page. This statement explains exactly what is stored, where, and why.
Our website
Our marketing website (rotorlog.com) uses two things, neither of which is a tracking cookie:
- Cookieless analytics. We use Simple Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit our pages. Simple Analytics is a privacy-first service that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites or over time.
- A single functional flag. When you dismiss an announcement bar, we remember that in your browser's local storage so we do not show it again. It contains no personal data and is not shared with anyone.
reCAPTCHA on the contact form
Our contact page is protected against spam and abuse by Google reCAPTCHA (v3), which runs only on that page. To do its job, reCAPTCHA may set cookies and process technical information about your device and browsing, and it shares your IP address with Google for verification. This is a security measure, not analytics or advertising. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you would rather not use reCAPTCHA, you can email us directly at legal@rotorlog.com.
The web app
When you sign in to the RotorLog web app (at rotorlog.com/app, and inside the Windows and Android apps built from it), your browser stores a small amount of data locally, using local storage and an on-device database (IndexedDB), to keep you signed in and to let the app work offline. This is strictly necessary to provide a feature you have asked for (a working, offline-capable logbook), so it does not require consent. It stays on your device and is cleared when you sign out or delete the app's data.
What we do not do
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run cross-site or cross-app tracking, we do not embed social-media trackers or advertising pixels, and we do not include any analytics or tracking software in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android or Windows apps. We do not sell your data.
Your choices
You can manage or clear cookies and site data through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly-necessary storage used by the web app may stop you from staying signed in or using the app offline; blocking reCAPTCHA may prevent the contact form from submitting, in which case you can email us instead.
